Wes Moser & Sons, Inc. began as a family farm in the 1880’s. The family has been farming in the same area of Weld County since that time.
In 1977, Wes Moser & Sons added a semi truck and trailer to haul sawmill by-products to the turkey farms for bedding material. This venture grew through the years to a fleet of trucks, hauling a variety of landscape and animal bedding products to a growing list of customers. During this time Wes Moser & Sons serviced a large number of primary and secondary producers of wood products, by recycling their by-products, which before had been trash items.
In 1986 a site on highway 85 north of Ft. Lupton, Colorado was purchased. A shop, office, and storage shed were constructed. An area was now available to store and process material to better serve the customer base. Grinding and screening equipment was added to improve the quality of the product line, and more attention was focused to the growing landscape industry.
A large hailstorm in 1990 led Wes Moser & Sons to open a recycling yard in Englewood, Colorado. This new operation was named Renewable Fiber. After recycling the wood shingles and debris from the storm, Renewable Fiber began to take in construction debris, tree trimmings, grass clippings, and leaves. The construction debris was sorted, the recyclable material was salvaged, and the balance taken as trash to the landfill.
In 1991 Renewable Fiber incorporated as it continued to grow. In 1996 a mulch coloring line was added, expanding the product line for recycled products. Marketing and processing of recycled products now became the major focus of Renewable Fiber and soon the ability to produce and market recycled products led to the closing of the tip yard side of the operation. The recycled products to be processed were now obtained from other tip yards in the area. The tub grinders already owned were kept to do “inhouse grinding” of material picked up from large producers of wood byproducts.
Renewable Fiber was now selling a complete line of landscape supplies to the landscapers and home owners along the front range of Colorado. On the first of January 1999, Renewable Fiber took over all landscape and animal bedding operations. Wes Moser and Sons again became a farm, handling all farm-related activities.
With the high demand for dairy bedding and the sizable production of dairy manure in the area, the next logical step was for Renewable Fiber to support a permitted composting facility in the area. The final permits for this facility were issued in the spring of 2001.
Late in 2006 a frac-sand trucking company was acquired. This has evolved into an operation including another rail site and the transloading of product from rail to truck in addition to transporting the product to the drilling sites.
With the continued growth of the company a separate administration office was put in place in January of 2008.
Other additions to the Renewable Fiber, Inc. line of services include sales yards in Greeley, Ft. Lupton, Englewood, and Broomfield Colorado, with the Greeley site also offering a nursery and a greenhouse. A truck dump is located in Ft. Lupton, and a rail road car unloading site, to receive products from outlying states, is located south of Johnstown, Colorado. At the Ft. Lupton site a large shaving production plant turns low grade and beetle killed timber into wood shavings for animal and poultry bedding.
A complete line of grinding, screening, and soil blending equipment operates at various sites to provide high quality products and services. A constant effort is being made to divert recyclable wood products from the waste stream to useable products. The demand for the companies high quality recycled products has constantly been growing at a faster pace then the old stand-by bark and peat moss items.
